This webpage provides information about the applications that should be made to the Law School by students that have been elected to spend a semester as an Erasmus+ exchange student at a foreign higher education institution.
Students have to make an application to the Law School at three phases of the exchange program.
Before mobility
Before mobility, students should make an application to the Law School in order to have two documents signed:
This application should be made at least one month prior to the beginning of mobility.
Foreign higher education institutions may request the learning agreement prior to the beginning of the mobility. In such cases, the application to the Law School should be made at least one month before the learning agreement is needed.
During mobility
If the courses that have been agreed on in the learning agreement (before mobility) have to be changed during mobility, students should make another application to the Law School in order to have two additional documents signed:
This application should be made at least one month prior to the end of mobility.
Foreign higher education institutions may request the submission of the learning agreement (during mobility) prior to the end of mobility. In such cases, the application to the Law School should be made at least one month before the learning agreement (during mobility) is needed.
After mobility
After the completion of mobility, the student should make an application to the Law School for the recognition of the courses and transfer of grades.
Undergraduate students who major in law should make their applications to the Law School. Undergraduate students who major in law and pursue a double major or minor program in another faculty or department should also make their applications with regard to all courses that they plan to take as an exchange student to the Law School.
Postgraduate students who study in a master (LL.M.) or doctorate (Ph.D.) program in private or public law should make their applications to the Graduate School of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Application should be made by an e-mail to the Erasmus and Global Exchange Programs Coordinator of the Law School. Contact information of the coordinator is provided at the end of this page.
Prior to the application, students should examine the course list of the receiving higher education institution and select the courses that they plan to take during mobility. All students that will spend a semester as an Erasmus+ exchange student have to enroll in lectures/thesis/projects worth 30 ECTS credits, even if they have completed all their course load at Koç Üniversitesi. In order to receive the remaining amount of the grant, students have to be successful in and transfer the grades of courses worth at least 20 ECTS credits (i.e. 2/3 of the taken credits).
It is encouraged to contact the Erasmus and Global Exchange Programs Coordinator of the Law School prior to the selection of courses. For students who pursue a double major or minor program and want to transfer some or all courses taken during mobility to their double major or minor program, it is recommended to contact the coordinator of the relevant faculty or department prior to the selection of courses. In any case, the Erasmus and Global Exchange Programs Coordinator of the Law School may require the opinion of the coordinator of the relevant faculty or department.
